چکیده

Solid-state fermentation (SSF) is envisioned as a prominent bio conversion technique to transform natural raw materials into a wide variety of chemical as well as biochemical products. SSF is being successfully exploited for food production, fuels, enzymes, antibiotics, animal feeds and also for dye degradation. The reuse of agro-industrial wastes in SSF processes is of particular interest due to their availability and low cost, besides being an environment friendly alternative for their disposal. In this paper the art of lignocellulose bioconversion by solid substrate fermentation

Bioconversion and Enzymatic Activities of Neurospora Sitophila Grown Under Solid State and Submerged Fermentation on Sago Hamps (RESEARCH NOTE)

N.sitophila was grown under controlled conditions of solid state and submerged fermentation on Sago hampas. The optimum conditions of protein enrichment previously established for sugar beet pulp was used for this study. Under this condition the protein content of Sago hampas under solid state increased from 1.4 to 14.45% (W/W) whereas for Sago hampas and Sago starch, the protein content under ...

Bioconversion of lignocellulose: inhibitors and detoxification

Bioconversion of lignocellulose by microbial fermentation is typically preceded by an acidic thermochemical pretreatment step designed to facilitate enzymatic hydrolysis of cellulose. Substances formed during the pretreatment of the lignocellulosic feedstock inhibit enzymatic hydrolysis as well as microbial fermentation steps. This review focuses on inhibitors from lignocellulosic feedstocks an...

A novel cost-effective technology to convert sucrose and homocelluloses in sweet sorghum stalks into ethanol

BACKGROUND Sweet sorghum is regarded as a very promising energy crop for ethanol production because it not only supplies grain and sugar, but also offers lignocellulosic resource. Cost-competitive ethanol production requires bioconversion of all carbohydrates in stalks including of both sucrose and lignocellulose hydrolyzed into fermentable sugars. However, it is still a main challenge to reduc...

Simultaneous saccharification and microbial lipid fermentation of corn stover by oleaginous yeast Trichosporon cutaneum.

Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) is the most commonly practiced operation in lignocellulose bioconversion to avoid the sugar product inhibition to cellulase enzymes. In this study, for the first time SSF was tested on microbial lipid fermentation using the diluted acid pretreated and biodetoxified corn stover. The results show that SSF was effective than the separate hydroly...

Methods for facilitating microbial growth on pulp mill waste streams and characterization of the biodegradation potential of cultured microbes.

The kraft process is applied to wood chips for separation of lignin from the polysaccharides within lignocellulose for pulp that will produce a high quality paper. Black liquor is a pulping waste generated by the kraft process that has potential for downstream bioconversion. However, the recalcitrant nature of the lignocellulose resources, its chemical derivatives that constitute the majority o...
